FEEDING PEOPLE IN NEED SINCE 1989
The CORA Food Pantry has been providing emergency food assistance to Chatham County families for the past two decades. It is a vital link in the safety network of health and human services agencies throughout our county.
CORA provides emergency food, not permanent assistance, to those individuals and families who are thrust into a crisis because of job loss, illness or other circumstance. Clients must be referred by a county social service agency or church.
CORA is the largest food pantry in Chatham County and the only one open five days a week, year round. Families and individuals can receive a week’s worth of groceries up to four times in a 12-month period. These weekly food allotments are selected to provide 21 nutritionally balanced meals for each family member.
It’s a big job. Volunteers place upwards of 4,000 pounds into the hands of hungry families every month.
Overall demand for help remains far ahead of last year. From July 1 through February 28, 2009 CORA provided weekly grocery supplies to 2,600 families comprising 9,800 individuals. This represents a 64% increase compared to the same period last year.

From Chapel Hill/Durham: Take 15/501 South (towards Pittsboro) to US-64. Take US-64 West to Siler City and proceed 500 feet past the first traffic light. Turn right onto Pearleman Teague Road (across from Wal-Mart) and go to the stop sign. Turn right onto Siler City-Snow Camp Road and proceed about 1/3 mile. The sign will be on the right. Turn right and come down the long wooded drive to the Inn. From Raleigh: Take US-64 West to Siler City and follow directions from above. From Greensboro: Take I-40E/I-85N to US-421 South (Exit 126). Proceed south on US-421 to Siler City and exit at US-64 (exit 171). Turn left onto US-64 and go east through next light. Immediately turn left onto Pearleman Teague and follow directions from above. |

From points east (through Pittsboro): from the intersection of US 64 and US 15-501 just north of Pittsboro (middle of three Pittsboro exits off of US 64):

From Raleigh: Take Highway 64 West to exit 386 (Business 64) into Pittsboro. Go around the courthouse traffic circle, staying on Business 64, which is now called West Street. The inn is the second house on the right after the circle. From Durham and Chapel Hill: Take 15-501 South to Pittsboro. Enter the courthouse traffic circle, and take the first right, which will be Business Highway 64, or West Street. The B&B is the second house on the right. From Asheboro and points west: Take Highway 64, exiting on Business 64 (exit 378) into Pittsboro. The B&B is on the left just before you get to the courthouse traffic circle, across the street from the Methodist church. |

From Chapel Hill: take 15-501 south to Pittsboro, go around the traffic circle and continue on 15-501 one mile to the traffic light at Pittsboro-Moncure Road. Turn left, go eight miles and turn left to merge onto US 1 North. Go two miles and exit onto Pea Ridge Road. Turn left. The B&B is one mile on the right. From Raleigh: Take US 1 south; take the Pea Ridge Road exit and turn right; the B&B is one mile on the right. From Points West:: take 64 East to exit 378; continue to the light at 87; turn right, continue through the next light onto Pittsboro-Moncure Road. Go 8 miles; turn left onto US 1; go two miles and exit onto Pea Ridge Road; turn left; B&B is one mile on the right. |
